Manchester United beat Sheffield United 4-2 at Old Trafford on Wednesday, with Bruno Fernandes scoring a crucial brace against Chris Wilder’s relegation-threatened side.
It was our first win since March 9 as United jumped to sixth in the Premier League table.
Rasmus Hojlund’s goal to make it 4-2 secured the win and it made for a comfortable end to the night, which is not something we are used to at United this season.
Once again, Bruno Fernandes got United out of trouble on the night. He registered two goals and an assist against Sheffield United.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, as quoted by The Peoples Person, Ten Hag waxed lyrical over Fernandes’ performance.
“Not only tonight, he’s in very good form. I think we put him in the right position, he found the right spots, and he made the right decisions.
“I’m very pleased with his performance. Bruno showed his leadership, his energy, his transition both ways. He always tries to encourage the team. We’re very pleased with his performance and attitude.”
Fernandes did not have much influence on the first half, but he never gives up and that is what sets him apart from other players.
Hopefully, Fernandes can continue this level of form for the remainder of the season. We could do with a big performance from him when we take on City in the FA Cup final.
Ten Hag also commented on Hojlund’s adding to his tally for the season. The Denmark international now has eight Premier League goals to his name.
The manager added: “It’s the rhythm, which is broken after his injury. Now he returns and his goal is important for him. That’s what strikers need, they live on goals.”
Next up for United is Burnley at Old Trafford on Saturday at 3 pm.
