Manchester United make rare change to plans for trip to Brentford

Manchester United are back in Premier League action with a late kick-off away to Brentford in the Premier League tonight.

An 8pm kick-off in West London on Easter Saturday is far from ideal, but we’ve got another late kick-off away at Chelsea on Thursday night.

This has led to the rare decision of leaving on the day of an away game, according to the Manchester Evening News. It is believed that the delayed departure will allow certain players additional time to recover from injury or illness before United fly to London this morning.

One player we’ll be keeping an eye on is Kobbie Mainoo after Erik ten Hag confirmed that the 18-year-old midfielder had missed training on Thursday due to illness. That said, Mainoo was seen at Carrington training complex on Friday.

Speaking to reporters about the matter, Ten Hag said: “Yesterday he skipped training because he was ill. I don’t know (if he will be fit for Brentford). We hope. Today he is here (in training), not fully recovered but we still have many hours before tomorrow with kick-off at 8pm.”

Yet again the authorities and broadcasters show that they do not care about the fans who travel to these games. For instance, there will be no train to take Reds back to Manchester, which will lead to costly hotel stays on top of their match ticket and travel expenses.

Hopefully, United get the job done against Brentford and add another three points to our season tally.
