Manchester United intensify interest in Juventus defender with affordable release clause

Manchester United have reportedly intensified their contact with Juventus defender Gleison Bremer ahead of an approach once the transfer window opens.

The Reds are set for a defensive overhaul as Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the Ineos Sports group make plans for the summer transfer window.

From reports published across all the newspapers, we can expect to see a centre-back and left-back brought in at the end of the season, but I wouldn’t rule out more additions in the defensive department.

According to Calciomercato, Ratcliffe has instructed his team to put feelers out for Juventus centre-back Bremer. It is believed that the Brazilian is also attracting interest from Chelsea, Liverpool, Newcastle and Tottenham.

United are seemingly happy to pay his release clause which is somewhere within the region of £43m and £49m for Bremer unless he signs a new deal at Juve to make matters complicated.

The Reds need defensive reinforcements with Raphael Varane’s contract expiring at the end of the campaign along with Jonny Evans. The two experienced defenders have performed well at times this season, but it remains to be seen if they will be handed extensions.

Meanwhile, Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof face uncertain futures at Old Trafford.

Let us know in the comments section which defenders you would keep and who you think should be sold in the summer transfer window.
