Antony’s big-money move from Ajax in 2022 has not gone according to plan and almost two full seasons later, the Brazil international is used as an option from the bench by manager Erik ten Hag.

The 24-year-old has greatly struggled in his second season, in particular, and as things stand, it is not looking likely that he will be able to nail down a starting place going forward.

Competition for places in that position was fierce not so long ago but Antony’s diminishing form and Jadon Sancho’s public falling out with Ten Hag has made that position a priority for the club to strengthen.

In recent months, Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes have taken up the role on the right-hand side and now, it is being reported that United have lined up a replacement for Antony.

That’s according to The Mirror, who say that Wolverhampton winger Pedro Neto is a player the Old Trafford hierarchy are keeping tabs on.

As per the report, United are ready to listen to offers for Antony this summer and there is also uncertainty over Marcus Rashford’s future, with French giants Paris Saint-Germain lurking.

PSG are expected to make big moves in the upcoming summer market as the departure of Kylian Mbappe looms large.

In light of the growing uncertainty surrounding United’s attackers, it seems like Neto has emerged as a potential candidate.

United are not the only club to have been linked with a move for Neto, with Liverpool, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur all mentioned in the conversation recently.

Neto is one of Wolves’ most important players but the Portugal international has endured an injury hell in the last two seasons.

The 24-year-old impressed in the meeting between Wolves and United at the Molineux earlier this year, scoring what looked to be an extra-time equaliser before Kobbie Mainoo’s stunning solo goal secured all three points for the Reds.
