Video: Mason Mount shares moment with Antony after hard-fought battle with Liverpool

Mason Mount took time to share a moment with Antony after the full-time whistle as Manchester United recorded a 4-3 win against Liverpool to reach the FA Cup semi-finals.

Erik ten Hag needed a performance from his team as a bare minimum, but the players showed some personality to get the win needed to secure a day out at Wembley next month for the semi-finals.

United’s saviour on Sunday and the scorer of our second goal, Antony, gave us hope to push on in extra time. He came off the bench to replace a pretty ineffective Rasmus Hojlund, who touched the ball a mere 13 times against Liverpool, before producing a moment of magic as he swivelled inside the box before shooting with his weak foot into the back of the net.

The ball squirmed into the far post and Old Trafford erupted.

There was more time to play as Harvey Elliott made it 3-2 in Liverpool’s favour. The Scousers had started booking London hotels ahead of the semi-final, but they were forced to cancel thanks to two late goals from Marcus Rashford and Amad Diallo.

Mason Mount shows his class

Mount made his first appearance for United in four months after coming off the bench. Since November, the 25-year-old has been working his way back to full fitness after suffering a calf injury.

Ten Hag brought him on for the final 15 minutes of extra-time.

After the game, Mount gave his support to Antony – knowing that the Brazil international has struggled to show consistency since joining the Reds from Ajax.

Mount wasn’t the only United player to celebrate the win with Antony. You can also see Victor Lindelof and Diogo Dalot offering their support to the tricky winger.

Hopefully, Amad’s goal against Liverpool pushes him on to win more matches between now and the end of the season.
