Former Blackpool striker claims Nemanja Vidic wasn’t an elite defender

during the Barclays Premier League match between Manchester United and Blackpool at Old Trafford on May 22, 2011 in Manchester, England.

Former Blackpool striker Gary Taylor-Fletcher believes Nemanja Vidic was only as good as Martin Skrtel.

Who? I don’t blame you for asking as another no-mark pledges to belittle a Manchester United legend.

Taylor-Fletcher was engaging with fans on social media with one saying that Vidic deserved more respect after winning five Premier League titles. Something Gary Taylor-Fletcher would only find achievable with Football Manager.

He replied to the post, saying: “Yeah and I tore him apart twice for Blackpool in 2010/11 season.

“He was no where near levels of [Rio] Ferdinand, [John] Terry & VVD [Virgil van Dijk].

“He was the same level of [Martin] Skrtel. Solid good player. Not elite.”

Yet in 2008, the year Vidic won the Champions League, the former Serbia international was part of the best centre-back pairing alongside Rio Ferdinand.

So, who on earth is Taylor-Fletcher?

The forward made just 32 Premier League appearances in his career, with two of those coming against United during the 2010/11 season. He did manage to find the back of the net against the Reds, although Blackpool were on the receiving end of 3-2 and 4-2 defeats.
