Ten Hag provides return timeframes for four absentees as one forward suffers setback in training

Erik ten Hag has provided an update on the players he expects to have at his disposal for Saturday’s early kick-off against Everton.

Still navigating Manchester United’s debilitating injury crisis, the manager will be without long-term absentees Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Anthony Martial and Tyrell Malacia, while young forward Omari Forson has recently sustained a setback.

Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Rasmus Hojlund, who was today named Premier League Player of the Month for February, could return to the fold for next Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final clash with Liverpool.

Ten Hag said in Friday’s pre-match press conference: “Harry Maguire and Aaron Wan-Bissaka I expect to be back for our game against Liverpool. Hojlund similar.”

Reds on the mend

Elsewhere, fans may be aware that Marcus Rashford and Jonny Evans were withdrawn in the closing stages of last Sunday’s Manchester derby defeat, with Ten Hag revealing post-match that both players had been carrying knocks ahead of kick-off. Thankfully, they’ve recovered throughout the week and have been cleared to feature tomorrow.

Mason Mount has endured an injury-plagued United career since he made the switch from Chelsea in July 2023. He has been out of action since November with a calf complaint, but his long-awaited comeback is now on the horizon, as Ten Hag added: “Mason Mount is in a good spell now and he will return shortly, I think after the international break.”
