Man United legend set to be given a new role at the club by Sir Jim Ratcliffe

As part of Ineos’ behind-the-scenes reorganisation at Manchester United, Darren Fletcher will be moved since his present title does not accurately describe his responsibilities.

United’s new minority owners are now focused on revamping the non-playing infrastructure at Old Trafford. Omar Berrada, the team’s incoming chief executive, will start the transformation when he joins from Manchester City in the summer.

Additionally, Ineos have reportedly reached an agreement to bring Dan Ashworth from Newcastle to the team as its sporting director; however, they have not yet settled on a compensation package.

Furthermore, a new performance director is being sought, with Southampton’s Jason Wilcox emerging as the front-runner to supervise the academy and other non-recruitment facets.

That would include the employment of three additional senior, high-profile individuals to oversee the football division under CEO Berrada.

It’s unlikely that current football director John Murtough would stay in his current position given the revamp, and it’s unclear if he will be retained at all.

The Telegraph claims that although there is a willingness to keep Darren Fletcher at the club, his future is also uncertain.

The former Scotland international is now referred to be a “technical director” by Man United, but it is more in line with what Ashworth, Freedman, and Wilcox would be doing if they were all appointed.

Given that Fletcher’s present job title is deemed to be “misleading,” Ineos is probably going to assign him to a more fitting role.

Since manager Erik ten Hag’s arrival at the club two years ago, the 40-year-old has collaborated closely with the Dutchman.
