Liverpool academy star Luca Furnell-Gill is serving a five-match ban after elbowing and throwing a punch towards Manchester United starlet Ethan Wheatley.
The 17-year-old has admitted a disciplinary charge from an incident that occurred at Carrington training complex on January 30.
Footage went viral that day showing the Liverpool defender lash out at Wheatley during United’s 4-3 win.
However, Furnell-Gill clashed with Wheatley on two different occasions in the game.
The FA has now confirmed that Furnell-Gill is currently serving a five-match suspension after missing Liverpool’s last four matches, as per The Mirror.
Furnell-Gill has been given a slap on the wrist and one I think everyone can agree that he deserves.
According to the Liverpool ECHO, Liverpool academy director Alex Inglethorpe contacted his United counterparts the morning after the incident to apologise for Furnell-Gill’s behaviour.
It’s the least he could have done.
A five-match ban is a fair punishment and should make Furnell-Gill think twice about his actions in the future.
