No clubs willing to pay half of what Manchester United paid for underperforming signing

Antony’s valuation has dropped by more than half, less than two years after he joined Manchester United from Ajax for a whopping £86 million.

The Brazilian joined the Reds in September 2022 and has struggled to adapt to the English game since then.

Now, after two underwhelming campaigns, there is talk that he could leave United in the upcoming transfer window.

Despite Antony’s valuation reportedly dropping by more than 50%, Football Insider reports that ‘no clubs in Europe or the Middle East would be willing to pay even half’ of the fee United spent to bring him to Old Trafford.

It is a signing that brings a lot of criticism Erik ten Hag’s way, though the manager has not had a proper recruitment team around him and there is suggestions that one will exist at United in the not too distant future.

Whenever Newcastle decide to take Dan Ashworth off gardening leave. There have been reports that our incoming sporting director has already began listing targets ahead of the transfer window.

The fact no clubs are showing an interest in Antony is telling. He has also lost his place in the team to Alejandro Garnacho.

  1. this is simply due to the fact that he was never worth that much, he is so so poor i actually feel sorry for him.

he is a 25m pound player and one that would struggle in most top leagues yet our awful manager thought to push to sign him for that ridiculous fee.

this transfer alone proves that ETH has no clue about the quality of the PL, and he has since proven that he himself is nowhere near good enough for the levels required. Again, can almost feel sorry for him, he is beyond rubbish and every manager, quite literally, schools him.

also Ratcliffe should investigate this transfer, and i mean that sincerely, it is such an outrageous amoiunt to have paid that some sort of fraud surely has been committed.

    1. I believe that he should be given more start games to allow for improvement. I do feel sorrow for him and truly believe that the domestic abuse claims have affected him mentally. He is a young man and may need some intervention. Not sure if Manu has a sports/behavioral psychologist to handle personal issues. But again, I agree that the EPL may be challenging owing to youth, Brazilian style of play and his stint in the Dutch league. Maybe it all happened to fast for him. However, I recalled a video done on him and he did appear a bit cocky for me but he still deserves a chance to prove himself
