Mason Mount has seemingly stepped up his recovery process as he closes in on his long-awaited return to action.

The midfielder has endured an unfortunate, injury-plagued start to life at Manchester United since he joined on a £60 million package deal from Chelsea last summer.

He has made just eight Premier League appearances so far this term, four of which were as a starter. Mount played just two matches before being sidelined with a hamstring complaint in September 2023, which saw him ruled out of the subsequent four games, before sustaining a calf problem in November and being unavailable for selection since then.

For around 24 fixtures in total, the England international has been absent, meaning the Old Trafford faithful are yet to see the best of the club’s most expensive summer signing last year.

Now, as the Reds face an uphill battle in their quest to close the gap on the top four along with an FA Cup quarter-final tie against in-form rivals Liverpool on the horizon, Erik ten Hag will be hoping to have as many players as possible at his disposal to aid the team’s targets.

On Friday, Mount provided a glimpse into his recovery when he shared a picture of himself training at Carrington simply captioned “Progress”.
