Getafe are prepared to begin negotiations with Manchester United on Mason Greenwood’s future with the team, according to The Times.
In 25 games this season, Greenwood has contributed five assists and seven goals to Getafe’s campaign, who are currently tenth in La Liga standings.
The 22-year-old forward’s permanent move is something the Spanish club are prepared to talk about, but it’s thought that another loan would be a more straightforward choice.
The Spanish club have been impressed with his performances this season and they want to keep the former Man United attacker in Spain.
In September, Greenwood went on loan to the club located in Madrid. Manchester United suspended him in January 2022 following allegations of violence, coercion, and attempted rape.
Last year, charges against him were dropped due to the withdrawal of important witnesses and the discovery of fresh evidence, which the Crown Prosecution Service claimed “reduced the chances of a realistic conviction.”
Man United have still not decided the future of Greenwood. Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the new co-owner of United, has given his INEOS Sports group the assignment to make a fresh decision on the future of the controversial player.
According to The Sun, Man United manager Erik ten Hag would welcome the return of Greenwood to Old Trafford but only if ‘it works for all parties’.
If somehow Greenwood makes a return to the club, the United fans will not be too happy about it.
