‘We are consistent’: Ten Hag shared post-Forest verdict and reacts to drawing Liverpool in QF

Erik ten Hag has shared his post-match verdict of Manchester United’s win over Nottingham Forest.

The tightly contested clash saw the Red Devils book their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals through an 89th-minute Casemiro header, sparing us all the need to sit through extra-time and penalties on a Wednesday night.

United will face current Premier League leaders and fierce rivals Liverpool in the last-eight – fortunately for Erik ten Hag and his men, they’ll have the backing of the Old Trafford faithful to rally them over the line and hopefully progress to the semis.

A dominant performance was needed tonight following last Saturday’s dismal defeat at home to Fulham, though there wasn’t a great deal to actually separate the sides when push came to shove.

Forest, who sit 16th-placed in the league, had 16 shots on goal (five on target) to the travelling Reds’ 20 (seven on target).

Ten Hag’s post-match reaction

Speaking to BBC Sport after the full-time whistle, Ten Hag said of the night’s affairs: “We had chances but we allowed them to create some chances. We should avoid that.

“We were consistent. We lost one time in 2024. We are consistent. It’s not so easy when you have the whole backline, and we have to shuffle and play players in different positions. I’m very proud we did it.”

Regarding the tie with Liverpool – to be played over the weekend of March 16/17 – he added: “A great challenge.”
