Report: Manchester United ready to cut their losses and listen to summer offers for mega-money flop

According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United will reportedly listen to offers for Antony this summer after a dismal sophomore season for the winger.

The 24-year-old entered the 2023/2024 campaign as one of Erik ten Hag’s most trusted lieutenants, consistently being named in the starting 11 each week regardless of his lacklustre showings on the pitch.

Now though, it appears as though the manager has learnt from his mistakes as Antony has not started a Premier League match since United’s final fixture of 2023 against Nottingham Forest. In 2024, he has featured for a total of 22 minutes off the bench and was an unused substitute for two consecutive matches against Aston Villa and Luton Town.

Antony’s time at United could be cut short

Antony is yet to register a single goal contribution in the league after 20 appearances, which is absurd given that he set the club back £86 million and is the second-most expensive signing in history.

Should he and Jadon Sancho depart in the next window, it’ll just sum up how utterly dire United’s business has been over the past decade. The woeful wingers cost a combined £159m and would recoup nowhere near their respective fees when the time comes for them to bid farewell.
