Manchester United plan to be proactive sellers in the transfer market

Manchester United fans are being told to expect a squad overhaul in the summer transfer window.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the Reds plan to be more proactive in the seller’s market amid the Premier League’s profitability and sustainability rules.

It will be up to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos Group have identified several players to be sold, with United understood to be willing to entertain ideas for Antony.

The report adds that football director John Murtough is still overseeing recruitment while United continue talks to hire Newcastle sporting director Dan Ashworth.

Ashworth has been placed on gardening leave and Newcastle are demanding a hefty compensation package.

United have a reputation of a club that struggles to sell players and that will have to change if we are to shift players that are deemed not good enough for the task at hand.

Raphael Varane, Anthony Martial and Tom Heaton are all out of contract in the summer, while deals for Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof and Facundo Pellistri are out of contract next year.

There are other players in the squad that have been linked with exits. For instance, Casemiro has been linked with a move to Suadi Arabia and Jadon Sancho is expected to be shown the door after his loan spell at Borussia Dortmund. The same could be said for Donny van de Beek and Hannibal Mejbri.

Ratcliffe has also confirmed that a fresh decision would be made on the future of Mason Greenwood.

It is crucial that United sell well in the summer or we’ll likely face financial constraints when it comes to buying players.
