Manchester United prepare shock move for Luton Town midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly planning a shock move for Luton Town midfielder Ross Barkley this summer.

After leaving Everton on 2022 and spending a season at Ligue 1 side OGC Nice, Luton Town brought in Barkley after securing promotion to the Premier League.

Barkley has done well following his return to English football, scoring three goals and registering as many assists in 20 Premier League appearances.

The Sun believes that Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his new regime are lining up a ‘shock move’ for Barkley in the summer as they eye a ‘bargain transfer’.

This would suggest that Ratcliffe, 71, received recommendations to sign Barkley following his time at Nice – another club owned by the British billionaire.

Luton are currently 18th in the Premier League table and they will forced to sell key players if they go back down to the Championship.

Although I don’t think these Barkley reports will go down well with United fans, I can’t help but wonder if he would be viewed as an upgrade on some of our squad players.

United need to lower the squad’s average age and signing a 30-year-old would be a strange way to go about doing that.
