Champions League-winning manager eyeing PL return and has ‘always’ been interested in United job

Bayern Munich confirmed on Wednesday morning that they would be parting ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the 2023/2024 campaign.

As per Christian Falk, the German manager is keen on returning to the Premier League and he has ‘always’ been ‘interested’ in taking the reins at Manchester United.

Given the Red Devils’ resurgent run of form in 2024, Erik ten Hag’s position in the dugout certainly looks safe for now, but he will have lost some credit in the bank after a rock-bottom finish in the Champions League group stage, fourth-round Carabao Cup exit and now scrambling to clinch a European spot after a tumultuous Premier League campaign.

As well as that, Sir Jim Ratcliffe will want to see vast improvements in a relatively short timeframe to ensure the club are on an upward trajectory while he begins to implement his plans.

Tuchel or Ten Hag?

Ten Hag does have the backing of the Old Trafford faithful though, especially matchgoers, who continue to voice their support for the Dutchman each week. But in the event that he is ever relieved of his duties, Tuchel would undoubtedly be on fans’ lists.

He reached a Champions League final with Paris Saint-Germain before winning the trophy in 2021 with Chelsea, later acquiring the UEFA Super Cup and Club World Cup with the Blues. Still, it must be noted that he has failed to get the most out of such a world-class, prolific Bayern squad this term.
