Pundit suggests Bruno Fernandes should be displaced by £60k-a-week United man

Former footballer Don Hutchison has claimed that Scott McTominay is currently more suited to the No.10 role than Bruno Fernandes at Manchester United.

Based on the pair’s form, the Scotland international has notched eight goals and two assists in all competitions compared to his captain’s seven goals and seven assists.

The recent, long-awaited return of Casemiro combined with Kobbie Mainoo’s scintillating emergence into the first-team has seen McTominay forced to adjust to a more reduced role; he has been named on the bench for the past six Premier League matches, though he has returned three goal contributions as a substitute in that time.

Meanwhile, Fernandes has missed just two matches in all competitions this term; one of which came following his accumulation of five yellow cards, ruling him out of last December’s trip to Anfield, and he was given a well-deserved rest for a third-round Carabao Cup tie against Crystal Palace.

Hutchison weighs in on potential midfield reshuffle

Speaking on Premier League Productions, Hutchison shared his verdict.

“Bruno I think is the one where I’m waiting for Bruno to fire. I think Scott McTominay, in my opinion, is the better number 10. I stand by that. When he plays for himself he has great ability, he can have great ability. But when he’s in a framework in a team as a number 10, he’s the one I’m waiting for, can you start doing it, because when he does, he can be a threat,” he explained.
