Ole Gunnar Solskjaer linked with shock managerial return to take over Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is being monitored by Bayern Munich as a potential replacement for Thomas Tuchel, as per Sky Sports reporter Florian Plettenberg.

Well, who saw that one coming?

The Norweigan coach has been out of work since Manchester United relieved him of his duties in November 2021. It came almost immediately after the side sustained a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Watford, which was just the final hammer blow in a string of disastrous results – five losses in seven matches –  for the 20-time champions. At the time, they were seventh-placed in the Premier League.

It wasn’t all doom and gloom though, and Solskjaer certainly did bring the United faithful some sunshine when the skies were grey over Old Trafford; that night in Paris in the Champions League, doing the league double over Manchester City, bringing Bruno Fernandes to the club and orchestrating a prolific partnership between Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

Bayern currently sit eight points behind Bundesliga high-flyers and leaders Bayer Leverkusen. They lost the Super Cup at the beginning of the term, were knocked out of the German Cup and lost the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie 1-0 away to Lazio. As it stands, they risk going trophyless for the first time since the 2011/2012 campaign, and just the fourth time in their history.
