Gary Neville believes the mood has changed at Manchester United

Former Manchester United captain turned Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville believes the mood has changed at Manchester United.

There is a combination of factors behind that. We can look how Erik ten Hag’s team’s unbeaten run in 2024, the fact we’ve got a striker in goalscoring form, or Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s imminent arrival that is expected to result in a number of highly respected recruits.

Neville was speaking on Sky Sports after United’s 2-1 win over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road and he expressed his views – yet again – on how the mood around the football club is changing.

The former right-back touched on how it helps having a number of key players back fit, although he says that after a fresh injury blow to Luke Shaw this afternoon.

Neville also jokes about how he can now shut up about United not having a sporting director. The club has been heavily linked with a move for Newcastle’s Dan Ashworth, with INEOS making him their No.1 target.

Hopefully, it’s not just a honeymoon period as a firmly believe the proof is always in the pudding. Ratcliffe and co have a lot of work to do the address the issues that exist at United.

Ten Hag also needs firm backing in the transfer window – with a supportive network around him to identify the right players to take United forward.

  1. You have to admit, this is a master-stroke by the Glazers. Decent owners would long ago have addressed all United’s ailments, or in fact never allowed them to happen. There are at last people doing this for them – and who have paid them millions for the privilege! Yes, Sir Jim has a stake, but the leeches will still be sucking at the majority of the golden teat.
