Rio Ferdinand snubs Rooney and Ronaldo while naming the best finisher he’s played with

When Rio Ferdinand was asked to choose the finest finisher he played with at Manchester United, he snubbed Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney.

Ronaldo and Rooney broke many goal scoring records at the club and both of them are possibly two of the most talented players in the illustrious history of the club.

Remarkably, Ferdinand rejected Ronaldo and Rooney when Manutd.com asked him to choose the finest finisher he has played alongside at United, back in October 2023.

He said: “Ruud for me. I think all the other strikers (he’s played with) would agree with that, as well.

“Ole is up there, he was a thinking finisher. His finishes were always calm and he was great at instinctive things but I have to go with Ruud. He was clinical and the most ruthless finisher I’ve played with.”

Many people consider Ruud Van Nistelrooy to be one of the most lethal attackers to have ever played in the Premier League.

Van Nistelrooy found the back of the goal 150 times in 219 games with the Red Devils.

The Dutchman has scored five more goals than Ronaldo and is ranked just outside of the top 10 goal scorers for United.

Rooney is the all time top goal scorer of the club while Ronaldo scored goals for fun during both his spells at Old Trafford. For Ferdinand to still name Van Nistelrooy as the best finisher says a lot about the quality of the Dutch striker.

In 2006, Van Nistelrooy moved from Old Trafford to Real Madrid to continue his goal scoring journey.
