Manchester United have been tipped to seal double Bayern Munich transfer

Former Manchester United player Louis Saha believes manager Erik ten Hag should pursue a double deal to sign Joshua Kimmich and Alphonso Davies from Bayern Muinch.

On Tuesday, the Premier League gave its approval to Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s acquisition of a 25% share in United, enabling the Ineos business to manage football operations at Old Trafford.

Ratcliffe is determind to bring big changes at the club to take the club back to the glory days of old. A number of players have been linked with moves to Old Trafford.

Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite, Crystal Palace’s Michael Olise, Wolves winger Pedro Neto, Juventus defender Gleison Bremer and several other players have been named in the media as United’s transfer targets.

Former United striker Louis Saha thinks the team should instead aim to sign Kimmich and Davies from Bayern, who will both be approaching their final year of contracts at the end of the season.

Kimmich, according to Saha, would bolster United’s midfield, and Davies, a left-back known for his quickness and attacking drive, would boost the defense.

“They are two extremely experienced players, especially Kimmich,” he told Betfred. “Kimmich would obviously be a great fit because he’s one of the fittest players in Europe and is capable of running games and is very slick. He and Davies are both quality players, there’s no doubting that.”

Saha noted that while no transfer strategy will ensure success, he thinks United are smart to target players who are nearing the end of their contracts. He also emphasised the significance of Champions League football in the race to sign elite players.

“Going for players with one year remaining on their contract is a smart strategy, but sometimes it doesn’t work out,” Saha added. “At this moment, Mason Mount hasn’t been a success at Manchester United, so ultimately it’s dependent on the character of the players, their suitability to the Premier League, the style of the team and many other factors.

“Other teams will be interested in these players if their contracts are running down, so it won’t be easy for Manchester United to pull off any of these signings. If Manchester United are unable to offer these players Champions League next season, then that will be an advantage to certain other clubs looking to sign them.”

United need a big investment in new players to compete with Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. Failure to do that at the right time may take United years behind their Premier League rivals.
