29-year-old United star plans to leave Old Trafford this summer despite recent contract extension

Victor Lindelof is reportedly looking to ply his trade outside of England next season after spending seven years with Manchester United.

As per Inter Live cited by Sport Witness, the centre-half is mulling over a move to Saudi Arabia, where he’s expected to have his pick of potential suitors when the time comes.

Lindelof, 29, has overseen fluctuating form in a United shirt but was always a mainstay in the starting 11 under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. When Erik ten Hag took the reins, he fell behind the likes of Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez in the pecking order.

Now, his resurgent counterpart Harry Maguire also ranks higher in the manager’s estimations, which has led to the Sweden international making just 10 Premier League starts this term.

Injuries have been a mitigating factor in Lindelof’s absences from the teamsheet but he’ll be well aware that when all centre-backs are fit and available, he is no longer guaranteed a starting spot and will be forced to settle for an off-the-bench, rotational role.

United did opt to trigger the one-year extension in his contract back in December, which gives them full control over their sale options at the end of the campaign and prevents Lindelof from leaving for free.
