Christian Eriksen has high hopes for Manchester United starlet

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen is convinced Alejandro Garnacho can become a ‘great, great player’ with the young forward going from strength-to-strength in the first-team.

Garnacho enjoyed his breakthrough season last term but he has only become a more key player in the first-team this season. The teenager scored twice in last weeks’ 3-0 win over West Ham.

Over time, people will demand that the 19-year-old shows more consistency in his game, but I think he has shown more of that in his second season under Ten Hag so we are already seen progress in his game.

Garnacho has scored seven goals in all competitions this term and he will be aiming to hit double figures before the end of the campaign. His United team-mate Eriksen believes that it is the young Argentine’s own drive and he will succeed which decides if he is to become a very good player or a truly great one.

“Difficult to say,” Eriksen told MUTV when asked how high Garnacho could fly. “It’s his second season now and he’s done really well.

“I hope he keeps growing, keeps maturing, keeps playing games, developing. And I’m sure he is going to be a great, great player.

“How much (he develops) is up to him.”

The sky is certainly the limit for Garnacho but he’s got to remain grounded. We could all say the same for fellow academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo, who has come into the first-team this season like a senior professional.
