Bruno Fernandes’ brother targeted during non-League matches

Bruno Fernandes’ brother claims he gets targeted with criticism over the Manchester United star and has revealed how he feels when comments are made about him.

It’s not something we hear spoken about very often. What level of abuse families of footballers have to put up with and it’s not down the supporters of our own club, obviously. It’s the others who hate United.

Fernandes is an influential club captain and you can see that whenever he speaks about the young promising players breaking into the first-team. The Portugal international is not afraid to give them praise or a slap on the wrist.

However, Ricardo Fernandes is Bruno’s brother and currently plays for Roffey in Division One of the Sourthern Combination Football League.

Ricardo is captain of the non-League side and works for the NHS.

In a recent interview with FourFourTwo, Ricardo revealed he is unable to escape his brother’s shadow on the pitch and that he can be targeted by opposition players and supporters about Bruno: “Oh, yes, that happens.

“I’m not saying every game, but most games.

“I don’t mind people coming up to me and speaking about my brother. I’m glad Bruno is known around the world. Manchester United was a big step for him.

“You hear the criticism and sometimes it affects you. It’s tempting to comment, but you have to leave it.”
