Man United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has expressed his emotions after making debut for the club

Manchester United goalkeeper Altay Bayindir has talked candidly about his emotions following his debut for the club.

Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir had been disgruntled sitting on the bench since joining United in the summer for almost £4 million from Fenerbahce since he had not played for the Red Devils in any tournament prior to the FA Cup match.

The first choice goalkeeper has been Andre Onana and he has played all the matches up until his departure for the Africa Cup of Nations. Therefore, the 25-year-old was forced to wait for his opportunity in the starting lineup.

Bayindir got the chance to make his debut for the club against Newport County in the FA Cup.

For the first time since making his Red Devils debut against the Welsh team, the Turkish international goalkeeper has spoken out.

“It was truly an indescribable feeling for me,” he told Turkish outlet DHA. “Being a football player and seeing our flag flying at Old Trafford is too indescribable to be described in words. I don’t know how this can be explained, but I can say it in one word, ‘pride’.

“I am very happy and proud to play my first match with this jersey. I was very excited from the first moment I warmed up. Playing the first match is always an unforgettable memory.”

With Onana returning from international duty, it is hard to see the Turkish goalkeeper feature again for the Red Devils this season. Only an injury to Onana can bring him back to the starting line up.

Bayindir will be aiming for more playing time with the Red Devils, especially since Turkey qualified for the European Championship this summer.
