Man United set asking price for England international as they prepare to sell him in summer

According to latest reports, Manchester United have set a final asking price for Jadon Sancho, who they plan to sell permanently in the summer transfer window.

During the January transfer window, Sancho was permitted by the Red Devils to go on loan to Borussia Dortmund, where he will remain until the end of the season.

Sancho doesn’t seem to have much of a future at United, at least not with Ten Hag still there. United are seeking to recover part of the £72 million they paid for Sancho in 2021.

Sebastian Kehl, the sporting director of Borussia Dortmund, maintains that signing Sancho in the summer will be “very difficult” for the Bundesliga team.

Football Insider reports that if a team wishes to sign Sancho during the summer transfer window, the Red Devils are anticipated to seek a transfer price in the range of £40–50 million.

Due to their inability to pay such an enormous sum, Borussia Dortmund are essentially ruled out from consideration to sign the winger on a permanent basis.

Since coming back to Germany, the England international’s performance has been brilliant. In Dortmund’s first three games, he has contributed two assists, helping them move up to fourth place in the Bundesliga standings.

Dortmund sporting director Kehl was asked about permanently signing Sancho and Chelsea player Ian Maatsen. Kehl told Sky Germany:

“Unfortunately for both players [Sancho and Ian Maatsen], neither option was really realistic.

“If you know what we got for Jadon Sancho two and a half years ago, then you know also that it might now be very, very difficult.

“We naturally advocated for an option with him – and also with Ian – but the negotiating position was not such that we could implement it and so we will accept it for now.”

With British businessman Sir Jim Ratcliffe hoping to transform Manchester United’s football department, the team is expected to be busy during the summer transfer season.
