Manchester United are reportedly interested in Real Sociedad’s Takefusa Kubo for the summer transfer window, according to Mundo Deportivo.
After departing Real Madrid in 2022, the Japan international, one of La Liga’s best young wingers, has made a huge impact at Sociedad.
Last season, the young Japanese played 44 games for the La Liga team, producing nine goals and nine assists. In 25 games this season, he has six goals and four assists.
His progress has reportedly caught the attention of the Red Devils, who want to sign him in the summer for his rumored £51 million release clause.
The youngster can be a useful replacement of United star Antony who has failed to make an impact at the club since his big money move from Ajax. If United can manage to offload the Brazilian, with the club demanding £50 million for him, the Real Sociedad star can be a key addition to the squad as Antony’s replacement.
Kubo is a versatile player who can play on either wing, behind the striker and also in the front two. A player like him is exactly what United needs right now. His productivity and versatility is something that the team is lacking at the moment.
According to recent reports, United’s bitter rivals Liverpool are also interested in the Japanese winger. He is viewed by Jurgen Klopp as Mo Salah’s long-term replacement and the German manager has already expressed this opinion to the club’s board.
The former Real Madrid player could start a transfer war between the two Premier League clubs in the summer.
