Former Arsenal and England goalkeeper David Seaman has given his verdict on Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund.
The retired footballer turned pundit feels Hojlund has been let down by his new team-mates.
Hojlund was among the goalscorers for United on Sunday when the Reds beat Newport County 4-2 in the FA Cup fourth round. The 20-year-old Denmark international found the back of the next in stoppage time.
Seaman claims he was pleased for Hojlund, but feels that his United team-mates are not providing him with enough service in front of goal. This has been a regular complaint since the beginning of the season and you could see how much the goal meant to the Danish starlet by his celebration.
Speaking on The Seaman Says podcast, the former Arsenal keeper said: “Rasmus Hojlund must be so frustrated because he gets into so many good positions but doesn’t receive the ball. He doesn’t receive it for tap-ins or little near post headers or things like that.
“When he scored the goal, I was really pleased for him. I love the fact that he properly celebrates and a lot of frustration comes out in his celebrations and I can totally understand it.
“For me he’s a good player but he’s not getting the right supply. There is a lot of selfish moments.”
While it has not been a particularly great debut season for Hojlund, he can still finish the campaign strongly. We need to be patient with him.
