Ally McCoist insists it is time for Manchester United to sell 26-year old star

Marcus Rashford should now leave Manchester United, according to Ally McCoist, who has noted that his recent body language has been appalling.

Illness kept Marcus Rashford out of Sunday’s FA Cup match against Newport County.

Erik ten Hag had to respond to inquiries following the victory at Rodney Parade, as the Guardian reported, regarding allegations that Rashford attended a nightclub on Thursday prior to feeling unwell for training on Friday.

Ten Hag declined to provide too many specifics on the forward’s absence, but he did guarantee that he will handle the problem.

For Rashford, the season has not gone well. In all competitions, he has just four goals to his name. And in response to the England international missing the match on Sunday, Ally McCoist said on talkSPORT (broadcast on 29/1; 6:29) that it would be better if the 26-year-old made a transfer away from the team.

“I watched him at Wigan, I thought his body language was shocking. It really, really was,” he said.

“He needs a fresh challenge and Manchester United need to move on I think looking at it now.”

“Let’s get this straight, we know he is a wonderful footballer,” Jeff Stelling replied.

Given that he seemed to improve last season, it is quite unfortunate how this season has gone for Rashford. He scored 30 goals in all competitions last season with 17 of them coming in the Premier League.

If United are to qualify for the Champions League or have any chance of winning the FA Cup this season, they need Rashford to be at his best and scoring goals like he was doing last season.
