Aaron Wan-Bissaka has, perhaps surprisingly, become one of Manchester United’s most sought-after players in recent months.
At the beginning of January, the defender was among several Reds to have their one-year contract extensions activated by the club, giving them full control over their sale options.
It was then reported this week that Saudi Pro League outfit Al Nassr were readying a bid for Wan-Bissaka after failing in their pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur’s Emerson Royal, however, an offer is seemingly yet to arrive in United’s inbox, and if/when it does, it’s set to be rejected.
The board have no plans of sanctioning his exit ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline but it remains to be seen what their plans are for the 26-year-old at the end of the season; West Ham United and Crystal Palace are also circling the player, though they are said to be conscious that they couldn’t match any fee offered by Al Nassr.
There’s also a chance that Wan-Bissaka’s Old Trafford tenure will be extended, which may delay the need to sign another right-back in the next window.
Wan-Bissaka may be given long-term deal
Transfer journalist Alex Crook shared his verdict while speaking to GiveMeSport, claiming: “Man Utd are telling me that they don’t envisage a scenario where Wan-Bissaka goes in this window. I think probably because they’ve taken up the year option on his contract, they’ll probably look to try and extend him to a longer-term deal on a reduced salary.
“I think he’s actually done quite a good job for Erik ten Hag and he’s been one of the more consistent players.”
Wan-Bissaka currently earns around £90,000 per week and has made 13 starts this season.
