Liverpool have advantage over Manchester United with OGC Nice target

Manchester United have been heavily linked with OGC Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo in recent months as a potential replacement for Raphael Varane.

It doesn’t sound like the 24-year-old France international will be leaving the Ligue 1 outfit in January, although it seems that a move could be on the cards in the summer.

A number of clubs have been mentioned with interest along with United. They include Newcastle, Liverpool, Tottenham and Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Nice Martin, Liverpool are leading the race for Todibo because he is reportedly very close to his international Ibrahima Konate and the opportunity to move to Anfield would appeal to him move.

This will come as a blow if Sir Jim Ratcliffe thought there was a way of arrange a deal to please all parties, since he now owns 25% of United as well as Nice.

It will be intriguing to see if there will be many twists and turns in this saga. The football world is never short of drama.

United need defensive reinforcements in the summer, and Liverpool could be in the same boat. The Scousers have Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez as their only reliable central defenders. It’s likely they will be in the market for a new addition in that department – much like ourselves.

Let us know in the comments section if you think Todibo is ready to thrive in the Premier League.
