Erik ten Hag sends good luck message to Jadon Sancho after loan move

Erik ten Hag has sent his best wishes to Jadon Sancho after the winger completed his loan move to Borussia Dortmund earlier this week.

Sancho returned to Dortmund on a short-term loan on Thursday, four months after his public spat with Erik ten Hag that saw the player frozen out of the first team.

It doesn’t sound like the pair were ever able to rekindle their relationship, which has led to Sancho having no other option but to leave Dortmund. Few clubs would be willing to spend money on a player that hasn’t played football in four months over disciplinary issues – let alone meet United’s asking price.

When asked about the loan at Friday’s press conference, Ten Hag gave a short reply (via Manchester Evening News): “I hope he’s doing well, so I wish him the best of good luck.”

The manager added: “That’s it. I hope he’s doing well and he’ll be a success. I replied, I think it’s enough.”

The media were hoping for a big soundbite, but Ten Hag gave a fair reply that shouldn’t demand any dramatic headlines. You can’t trust all news outlet though.

It remains to be seen if Sancho will be able to rejuvenate his career at Dortmund. First, he will need to show more maturity than what he has shown during his time at United. They’ve worked with him before and know what to expect.

Ten Hag will be hoping that Sancho’s market value increases over the coming months at Dortmund.
