United could be forced to vie with Real Madrid for signature of 21-year-old Premier League stalwart

Real Madrid have reportedly added Everton stalwart Jarrad Branthwaite to their summer transfer shortlist, along with the likes of Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

The 21-year-old has garnered attention from some of Europe’s elite for his superb performances at the heart of the Toffees defence during their tumultuous term, often looking mature beyond his years alongside the experienced James Tarkowski.

Alas, such showings have seen Branthwaite heavily linked with a Goodison Park exit – much to Sean Dyche’s dismay. Interested clubs will know that the player won’t come cheap by any means, but Everton’s quest to comply with financial regulations could see them forced to accept a cut-price fee when the time comes.

Ancelotti eyes Branthwaite reunion

Carlo Ancelotti has begun targeting his former protegee, whom he granted a senior debut to during his time on Merseyside, and when the 14-time European champions come knocking, it’s certainly a prospect that’s difficult to turn down.

Should Branthwaite prefer to stay in England but move on from the relegation-threatened Toffees, Spurs and United will be eagerly waiting to table their proposals, as per the Daily Mail.
