Impatient United star targeting Spurs clash to return from sidelines ahead of schedule

Lisandro Martinez is reportedly ‘chomping at the bit’ to make his long-awaited return to action for Manchester United, as per the Daily Mail.

The Argentine is entering his fourth month on the sidelines after suffering an aggravation of the metatarsal injury that ended his maiden Red Devils campaign prematurely.

His last outing came during United’s 4-3 defeat at the hands of Bayern Munich in their opening Champions League group-stage game, with speculation at the time claiming that he had been forced to take painkillers to get through the opening games of the season.

A pivotal figure in the backline, the 25-year-old has been sorely missed throughout his absence. United’s centre-back partnership has been rotated non-stop due to injuries but as soon as Martinez is available for selection, he’ll slot right back into the starting 11.

Martinez’s potential return date

Fans’ tedious wait to see the World Cup winner take to the field again may finally draw to a close this weekend, as Chris Wheeler suggests that Martinez could make the matchday squad for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford.
