Hojlund returns, Mainoo starts, no Amad: Confirmed United line-up to face Wigan in FA Cup tie

Manchester United are undergoing their final preparations at the DW Stadium ahead of tonight’s third-round FA Cup tie versus Wigan Athletic.

The competition provides one of the only realistic prospects of silverware for the Red Devils this term, having already exited the Carabao Cup and the Champions League. As well as that, they sit eighth-placed in the Premier League and 14 points off of the top spot.

Erik ten Hag’s men take on League One opposition this evening, but mustn’t fall victim to underestimating the side and sustaining an upset.

United’s starting XI

Alas, here’s the manager’s team selection for the contest.

Andre Onana retains his role between the sticks, again preferred to second-choice Altay Bayindir, who is yet to make his debut for the club.

Jonny Evans partners Raphael Varane to form an experienced centre-back duo in the backline, with Aaron-Wan Bissaka and Diogo Dalot on either side of the veterans.

Young prospect Kobbie Mainoo starts – much to the delight of the Old Trafford faithful – alongside Scott McTominay and behind captain Bruno Fernandes.

The front three is as it was against Aston Villa on Boxing Day; Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Alejandro Garnacho.
