Premier League club make 11th-hour approach to hijack Manchester United star’s loan deal

Hannibal Mejbri is tasked with a tricky decision when it comes to choosing where he’ll spend the second half of the 2023/2024 campaign.

It was confirmed in late December that the Manchester United youngster was set to leave the club on loan in January, which has led to him missing the Africa Cup of Nations with his national team, Tunisia.

Hannibal has overseen a season of personal milestones thus far; scoring his maiden senior goal for United and being granted his first-ever Champions League start. However, his game time hasn’t been at the level he’d have likely hoped it would when the term began.

The 20-year-old has featured for a total of 327 minutes in all competitions, with just 130 of those minutes coming in the Premier League. Across his nine appearances, four have been as a starter.

Hannibal’s loan options

Alas, the player – along with Erik ten Hag – has now seemingly decided that the most suitable option to continue Hannibal’s development is with another loan spell, having spent last season with Championship outfit Birmingham City.

Fabrizio Romano announced on Saturday evening that Hannibal had chosen to join Sevilla, before later adding that Everton had entered the race in an attempt to hijack the deal.

The decision now lies in Hannibal’s hands.
