Erik ten Hag ready to sanction 22 y/o’s exit after falling further in pecking order; three clubs interested

Erik ten Hag is reportedly willing to sanction Facundo Pellistri’s exit on either a loan or permanent transfer this month.

It comes amid another season of little action for the player, who has endured an underwhelming Manchester United career since making a £9 million move from Penarol in 2020.

In truth, Pellistri, up until this season, hasn’t really been granted the time or opportunities to showcase his talents in the senior squad. Last term – the first of Erik ten Hag’s tenure – he featured for a total of 214 minutes and made only one start across all four competitions, which came in the Europa League.

He has outdone the tally this season by the halfway stage, accumulating 363 minutes on the pitch thus far and being awarded three starts, however, Pellistri could see his time slashed over the coming months due to Amad Diallo’s long-awaited return to action.

Pellistri has fallen further in the pecking order

Amad came on in the second half of United’s loss to Nottingham Forest and, despite the dismal showing from his teammates, impressed supporters with his brief cameo. With more experience and goal contributions under his belt – thanks to his spell at Sunderland in 2022/2023 – he could well be preferred to Pellistri as an off-the-bench option until the summer.

Alas, The Sun reports that United are mulling over Pellistri’s future and whether or not it lies away from Old Trafford. Potential loan exits include Sevilla and INEOS-owned Nice, while Villarreal are said to be planning an approach to acquire the Uruguayan’s signature permanently.
