Predicted Manchester United XI vs Wigan: First start of the season for talented winger

Erik ten Hag has confirmed goalkeeper Andre Onana will feature in Manchester United’s FA Cup third-round tie against Wigan Athletic.

The Cameroon international will soon jet off for the African Cup of Nations, but he will be staying put for the next two matches against Wigan and Tottenham before joining up with the Cameroon squad in the Ivory Coast.

In turn, this means back-up keeper Altay Bayindir will have to wait longer for his United debut.

The manager also said in his press conference that he more or less expects to have the same squad available to the one who lost to Nottingham Forest last weekend.

Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez excited fans by returning to training with the first-team group during the week, although it is thought that this game may come too soon for the pair.

Predicted Manchester United XI vs Wigan Athletic

Onana will be between the posts. In front of him will be a back four consisting of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Raphael Varane, Jonny Evans and Diogo Dalot.

The midfield trio will be made up of Kobbie Mainoo, Christian Eriksen and club captain Bruno Fernandes.

Rasmus Hojlund remains a doubt, which means we’ll see Marcus Rashford lead the line again. On the wings we could see Alejandro Garnacho joined by Amad Diallo, who could get his first start of the season.

Manchester United predicted XI: Onana; Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Evans, Dalot; Mainoo, Eriksen, Fernandes; Amad, Rashford, Garnacho.
