Manchester United on course to oversee disastrous £48m loss in reported Jadon Sancho buy clause

Jadon Sancho is closing in on a return to former club Borussia Dortmund, where he’ll play his first minutes of senior football since August 26.

The Manchester United attacker has been nailed on to depart Old Trafford this month ever since his notorious, public feud with Erik ten Hag began in early September.

Unwilling to swallow his pride and apologise, Sancho was immediately banished from all first-team action and facilities, with the 23-year-old only occasionally being spotted when arriving/leaving at Carrington.

Now, he’s decided that a return to the Signal Iduna Park is the most suitable way for him to try and revitalise his career; United and Dortmund are hashing out the final terms of a loan agreement that will see Sancho make the switch to Germany until the end of the season.

He’ll be looking to aid the side in their Champions League journey, in which they face PSV in the last-16, as well as playing catch-up in the Bundesliga top-four race.

Reported Sancho asking price revealed

Fabrizio Romano has revealed that the fee of the loan is expected to be around €4 million (£3.4m), while Football Insider reports that if Dortmund want to make the transfer permanent, United have set Sancho’s price tag at a mere £25m  – yet another example of some truly disastrous business on their end, given that they paid £73m for him back in 2021.
