Erik ten Hag describes ‘very constructive’ talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has revealed he had ‘very positive’ talks with Sir Jim Ratcliffe this week.

The Dutchman says he is on “the same page” as the British billionaire, who is taking over football operations at the club, after the Ineos chairman and his team presented a number of their ideas during a lengthy meeting at Carrington.

Ratcliffe arrived in Manchester on Tuesday to meet players and staff as part of an introductory process, however, Ineos are still waiting on regulatory approval to acquire a 25% stake in United.

When speaking to reporters ahead of United’s FA Cup third round clash against Wigan, Ten Hag was enthused about working with Ratcliffe and sporting director Sir Dave Brailsford.

Ten Hag said (via Manchester Evening News): “I can say that it was a very constructive meeting and we’re looking forward to working with each other.”

He also suggested Ineos would implement changes at the club sooner rather than later.

“I think it’s very short [until they make changes]. And also we have to let it settle down, they’re just coming in, introducing themselves, they have good ideas, we have to see what we can integrate, in togetherness we will work but after one day you can’t tell that.

“No, they have given me a few (what their ideas are). We have had our debates, or our approach about strategies and I think we will come together.”

Ratcliffe was pictured meeting Denmark international Rasmus Hojlund, women’s players Katie Zelem, Millie Turner and Aoife Mannion. He even got an introduction to receptionist Kath Phipps, who has been working at United since 1968.
