Man United are ready to pay £77.5m for ten Hag’s number one midfield target

Erik ten Hag’s priority signing has been Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong for quite some time.

Since his arrival at Old Trafford, ten Hag has wanted the Dutch midfielder to lead his midfield and become the connection between midfield and attack.

Failure to sign him resulted in Manchester United going for Real Madrid’s Casemiro.

Even though the Brazilian helped United to finish in the top four last season and qualify for the Champions League, the former Real Madrid star has already played his best years.

Summer signings Mason Mount and Sofyan Amrabat have failed to make any impact at Old Trafford.

ten Hag feels there is a gap in the United midfield which no other player has been able to fill and just because of that, he is about to go again after his compatriot de Jong.

To ultimately sign De Jong, Man Utd are reportedly ready to make an offer of £77.5 million (90 million euros), according to Spanish outlet Nacional.

The source has reported that Man United want to take advantage of Barcelona’s poor economic condition and lure their star midfielder to the club with a £77.5m offer.

The Red Devils are ready to offer him a better package in terms of wages than what he is currently earning at the Spanish giants.

de Jong’s quality in the centre of the midfield is evident and he is one of the best deep lying playmakers in the world. His signing could be the final piece of the puzzle that ten Hag is trying to solve.
