As most Manchester United supporters expected, Jadon Sancho looks nailed on to be leaving the club in the opening days of the January window.

The winger had been linked with Juventus, Saudi Pro League clubs and even West Ham United, but the odds have now been slashed on Sancho’s return to the Signal Iduna Park in a reunion with former flame, Borussia Dortmund.

Fabrizio Romano claims that the deal is now ‘more than concrete’, with the player actively pushing to join ‘as soon as possible’.

Eden Terzic is keen to acquire the 23-year-old on loan for the remainder of the 2023/2024 campaign, in which Dortmund will look to progress as far as possible in the Champions League – starting with their last-16 tie against PSV in February – and mount a Bundesliga title charge, though that looks unlikely given Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich’s grip on the top-two positions.

A return to familiar settings could inspire exiled Sancho

For Sancho, he’ll presumably put the prospect of silverware on the backburner and will instead prioritise reigniting the prolific form he displayed in Germany across his four years at the club; he scored 12 goals and assisted six in his United career (82 matches), but tallied an impressive 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 appearances in the famous black and yellow.
