Manchester United striker Charlie McNeill has been recalled from his loan spell at League One side Stevenage.
It was thought that McNeill would be immediately sent back out on loan to another club, but the Manchester Evening News has now heard that he is set to stay at Old Trafford for the remainder of the season.
The 20-year-old joined Stevenage during the summer and scored on his debut against Leyton Orient, but he only went on to make a further two appearances.
United have now decided to keep McNeill for the rest of the season and he will be available to feature in Premier League 2 games.
There’s also a chance McNeill could feature in the first-team, with Erik ten Hag short on strikers in his squad. Anthony Martial has been missing for four weeks with illness, leaving Rasmus Hojlund as the only available centre-forward.
By coming back to United, McNeill has a chance to impress Ten Hag like Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho before him. Only time will tell if he’s got what it takes.
