Sir Jim Ratcliffe in Manchester for meetings with Erik ten Hag and coaching staff

It sounds like a busy day at Manchester United.

According to Daily Mail reporter Chris Wheeler, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is in Manchester today and will hold meetings at Old Trafford and Carrington for the first time.

There are plans for Ratcliffe, who recently became a minority shareholder after buying 25% of Manchester United, to speak with Erik ten Hag and the manager’s coaching staff at the training ground.

Ratcliffe’s partial takeover of United will reportedly allow the club to make a significant investment in the playing squad in the summer while remaining within the bounds of Financial Fair Play. However, this is unlikely to come into effect in January, with Ineos’ deal in the process of being ratified by the Premier League.

The £1.3 billion deal for 25% of the club was announced on Christmas Eve after a year’s worth of speculation.

As part of the deal, the Ineos Group CEO also committed to a £235m equity investment in the club.

The biggest problem United fans have with the deal is that it doesn’t remove the Glazers. They’re sticking around for now, but hopefully and end game is in sight for the American family of leaches.
