Former Manchester United defender Eric Bailly has re-joined Villarreal just one day after having his Besiktas contract terminated.
The 29-year-old lasted just three months in Turkey and now he’s back in Spain, in familiar surroundings at Villarreal where he made a name for himself before signing for Manchester United in a deal worth £30million.
Sadly, Bailly’s time at Old Trafford was blighted by injury, but he showed great promise in his first season under Jose Mourinho.
The Ivory Coast international made just 70 appearances in the Premier League during his six years at United. He’s been trying to rebuild his playing career ever since.
It remains to be seen if Bailly will feature in Tuesday’s trip to La Liga rivals Valencia, but at least he’s back in contention to play football after being banished from the first-team at Besiktas after just 8 appearances for the Turkish giants.
Valencia are currently 13th in La Liga after winning just five matches this season. They will hope that Bailly’s arrival will help them concede less goals in the second half of the campaign.
