Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo says his team need to be at their best defensively to keep Manchester United quiet on Saturday. He always made it clear in his pre-match press conference that he’s a big admirer of Bruno Fernandes.
The Reds are on their travels again this weekend with a trip to the City Ground on the cards.
Forest go into the game after enjoying their first win under the newly appointed Espirito Santo against Newcastle United. Tomorrow we need to bring them back down to earth.
Speaking to reporters ahead of his second game in charge of Forest, Espirito Santo hailed United captain and fellow countryman Bruno Fernandes.
“We have to compete very well and improve defensively – especially in terms of defending our own box,” Nuno explains, as per the Nottingham Post. “I think we did well (against Newcastle). But I think we have to be very careful because they have threats all over the pitch.
“United are a big club, with fantastic players. We know it will be hard and we saw how they came back from behind (against Aston Villa) and how they changed the game. So we expect a very, very difficult game.
“I have a big admiration for Bruno Fernandes. He’s a big player. We have to take care of all of them. They’re so good. But we are at the City Ground and coming back off a good game. What we want is to compete well and give it a go.”
United’s comeback win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day lifted a bit of pressure off Erik ten Hag’s shoulders, but it is crucial that we can now go away to the City Ground and build on that.
