The Manchester United squad were as ecstatic as Rasmus Hojlund was to see the young Dane net his maiden Premier League goal.
And what a goal it was; Hojlund’s 82nd-minute contribution rounded off a triumphant comeback for the Reds against Aston Villa – one of the league’s most in-form sides this season.
Credit must also be given to Alejandro Garnacho, who was named Player of the Match after his spirited performance saw him register a second-half brace.
The two young forwards have now shelved the notorious discussion and criticism around United’s misfiring frontline, and they’ll be hoping to kick on themselves to continue adding to their own personal milestones.
For Hojlund, he’s now off the mark in England’s top division and has plenty of games left to keep his tally up, while aiding United in their top-four charge throughout the second half of the campaign.
How the Reds reacted
His teammates were quick to congratulate him after a joyous night in M16, with current absentee Mason Mount saying: Rasyyyy!!! Deserve it brother! What a win lads!!!”
Former Red Rio Ferdinand added: “So happy for you. Keep that feeling inside and use [it] as fuel.”
Sergio Reguilon left a particularly heartwarming message on Hojlund’s Instagram post, commenting: “You deserve everything”.
