Rasmus Hojlund is finally off the mark in the Premier League after his emphatic, 82nd-minute winner led Manchester United to a crucial win over Aston Villa on Boxing Day.
Having gone 14 tedious matches without finding the back of the net, the 20-year-old would’ve entered last night’s game knowing that opening his account in front of the Old Trafford faithful was a non-negotiable.
Two first-half Villa goals – both of which came from set-pieces – left the Reds looking disheartened by the interval at the thought of falling to a 14th defeat, but it was young Alejandro Garnacho who inspired the triumphant comeback with a brace by the 71st minute.
Hojlund went on to seal the victory just minutes before the full-time whistle was blown in M16, and the sheer relief and elation he felt were evident.
