(Video) ‘Not good enough’ – Luke Shaw reacts to Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to West Ham

Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw had a disappointed expression written across his face following our 13th defeat of the season.

It should go without saying that Manchester United were not good enough against West Ham after losing 2-0 in the Premier League this afternoon.

Although Erik ten Hag’s team were comfortable at times, even on top of the game in phases, they failed to take advantage of that and West Ham took three points as a result.

Speaking to TNT Sports after the game, Shaw explained that United need to do more to win football matches but it feels like we’ve heard that before from these players.

“[It was] just not good enough really. We have to win games. We keep losing games, losing points and we’re making it very hard for ourselves. Especially that second half, not good enough. First half I think we controlled the game. If we score the first goal then maybe the result’s different but we don’t so we suffered in the second half and it’s not good enough.

“The pass was an unbelievable pass. It got a bit of luck with the rebound and that’s that. The second goal is a mistake but that doesn’t matter. From the start of the second half, we were not the same as the first half and it showed. That’s why I’m here now and we’ve lost three points again.”

Shaw was also asked about the damning record of United going four games without scoring a goal. The England international added: “It’s tough to think what’s going on. I think maybe we’re just not creating enough and when we do on the other hand we’re not clinical. Maybe it could be a lack of confidence at the moment, sometimes that’s normal in football, it happens. Like I said, we have to try and keep staying positive. We’ve got another big game coming up against Aston Villa so we can’t feel sorry for ourselves, we have to pick ourselves up and go again. It’s a home game and we can’t keep dropping points, we have to win games.”

Finally, he admitted that it can be difficult to stay positive when results aren’t going our way: “Yeah, it is, but it’s our job. We have to stay positive. This is Manchester United, one of the biggest clubs in the world, and like I said before it’s not good enough. We know that and we have to dig deep, look ourselves in the mirror and question ourselves and go from there.”
